We harp on about "Buy Kenya Build Kenya". But usually it's just lip service. Especially when it comes to the textile industry. The market is flooded with second hand clothing and the mitumba markets have been quite detrimental to the growth of the local textile and apparel sector and have killed our ginneries.
Fashion enthusiast and entrepreneur Carole Kinoti is on a mission to change that.
She founded the Mavazi Elevate Program (MEP) that aims  to empower creatives in the fashion industry and small local businesses across 47 counties in Kenya through development and expansion of business skills for enterprise development, further driving the Made in Kenya agenda. The Programme aims to empower fashion creatives by; Turning Talent into Trade through Product Development and Entrepreneurial skills empowerment.
The program accelerates learning while placing unemployed youth in jobs across the country by equipping them with sewing machine operator's skills and further support lifelong personal and professional success.
MEP is calling out on all fashion creatives from underprivileged backgrounds to partner  with them to fortify the local fashion industry.
Here's a great opportunity for budding Fashion Creatives in the industry to showcase their skills.
