In light of Willy Paul's latest trending antics, Muthoni the Drummer Queen had some interesting thoughts to share last week. The "Suzie Noma" hit maker shared her sentiments regarding Willy Paul via Twitter in light of  his now controversial "Lamba Nyonyo" song release.
MDQ began her thread titled, "Willy Paul, gospel music & the bullshit that got us here". In the tweets that follow, she appreciates his talent and degree of influence, adding, "…he has been long overdue to make a clean break from fake gospel industry, the injili crowd+the corporate Ksh that keeps pushing it." She also encourages him to freely express himself, "This 'bad boy' image, make it your reality. Curse on tracks. Get 100 tattoos. Do whatever & exactly what you want to do", said another tweet.
The gospel industry, influential ability, and corporate gigs got a mention too. Muthoni claims that gospel business is more about the vibe and dance moves than the actual message, giving referrals to "Bazokizo" and "Odi Dance" hits. "That's why ' KE gospel' slaps so hard. It's not about Jesus. It's about moving the masses of bodies." MDQ also slammed corporates for encouraging the "fakeness of gospel artists" for gigs, thanks to the influence aspect. "Corporate KE is very tied to bottom-line ie numbers", she tweeted.
MDQ says that fans also perpetuate this fallacy based on hit songs, stating,  "And then there is us the fans. We know when we hear the song there's nothing to do with Jesus/gospel… So we all perpetuate the bullshit because the song slaps."
She concludes by advising Willy Paul to "drop the gimmicks", tweeting this:
