KenyaBuzz: Describe your channel in three words.
Over 25: Authentic, relatable, fun
KenyaBuzz: What prompted the idea for Over 25?
Over 25: A need to express ourselves as friends and women. We were also inspired by other YouTube vloggers who were doing the same.
KenyaBuzz: Take us through your creative process when you're making a new episode.
Over 25: Sometimes we come together with no topic in mind and brainstorm on something we want to get into right there on the spot, while other times we throw ideas at each other via WhatsApp throughout the week based on whatever we are going through, thinking or feeling. We have a PC "sticky note" where we scribble all manner of topics we wish to discuss in the future - sort of like a sketch to an artist at the first stage of a portrait.
KenyaBuzz: How did you all meet?
Over 25: In school - High school and Uni.
KenyaBuzz: Your channel is pushing the envelope with risqué content, but are there topics that you wouldn't touch?
Over 25: We kind of just go with how we are feeling. If we think something is too risqué we won't go right into it but caution can sometimes be fleeting because you know; girls and talking!
KenyaBuzz: What topic was the toughest to speak about - for each of you - and why?
Julia: Episode 34, 'Men's Secret Questions'. I know some of my aunts abroad watch the channel and I couldn't stop thinking about them. We have a girl's WhatsApp group together which one of them created so that we can talk about these kinds of things as women, but I still found the episode difficult. I look forward though to the day I can say these things openly online because in real life my mouth has very poor brakes.
Shiku: My first episode (ep16). Cause I knew it would be SO awkward for my fiancé.
Lorna: Topics that require me to speak about my love life because I really try to keep that private.
Ivy: The episode 'Things Men Do That Girls Like - Part 1'. I was pregnant and not feeling very sexual. It was also like my third appearance on the vlog and I couldn't believe we were OK talking about that stuff on YouTube.
KenyaBuzz: Which one of you is the raunchiest?
Over 25: There really isn't one specific person that can be described as the raunchiest. We all have our 'R-rated' moments.
KenyaBuzz: What's the most flattering comment you've received about your videos?
Over 25: One guy approached us and thanked us for saving his relationship with his girlfriend (aww).
KenyaBuzz: What's the worst comment?
Over 25: The negative comments are white noise. Sometimes we just laugh them off.
KenyaBuzz: Why do you think the episode "WHAT MEN REALLY WANT" became so popular?
Over25: We had previously told our male viewers what WE as women like, so our people were probably excited to hear the guys' perspective on what THEY like, from the horse's mouth.
KenyaBuzz: How do you divide time between your jobs, family and the channel?
Over 25: We have set shoot days which we try to maintain and work around so that we don't interfere with our 9 to 5s, family and life in general.
KenyaBuzz: Are there things you reveal on the show that take your partners by surprise?
Over 25: Lol! For the most part, no. As they are probably aware of the opinions we air on the channel. Once in a while it may get awkward.
KenyaBuzz: What's the general reaction you get from your friends and family about what you discuss on the channel?
Over 25: They're all very supportive of what we do. They just want to see us do well. But of course, we always put a disclaimer and tell them they are not the target audience so they're not too shocked. Plus, we're all old enough now, our parents/guardians are more like friends than parents.
KenyaBuzz: What are your thoughts on true love? Does it exist?
Over 25: Yes, there is true love but it doesn't exist on its own. It takes work! We always say, you can't eat love. A relationship has to come with security. Both people have to work equally hard to keep that love alive.
KenyaBuzz: Who would you rather Marry, Bang, Kill? Lenana Kariba, Biko Adema, Mike Makori.
Lorna: Marry Lenana, bang Michael and kiss Biko. Lol! I wouldn't kill any of them.
Julia: Marry Lenana, I guess because I don't know him, bang Makori cause I won't bang Biko... and Kill Biko... but he's a Kenyan star? This is hard.
Ivy: Marry Biko, bang Lenana and friendzone Makori.
Shiku: Marry Lenana, bang Biko, pretend to kill Makori, but really let him escape (cause we hang sometimes).
KenyaBuzz: What do you hope to achieve with the channel going forward?
Over 25: We hope to inspire more people to create great content. Content is King, its gold. We also hope to work with brands because working with us means working with our AWESOME fans! They really deserve the best.
KenyaBuzz: What other Kenyan You Tubers do you like?
Lorna: I'm so bad with watching local anything on YT. I promise to do better.
Julia: Caroline Mutoko and Mandi.
Ivy: Caroline Mutoko is my current favourite; Notification Gang pap!
Shiku: Nancie for makeup, Sheila for hair and Mandi, Jayson, Green calabash for food and lifestyle (I watch a lot of Kenyan YT)
KenyaBuzz: Oh, Shiks when is the wedding?
Over 25: Stay tuned
KenyaBuzz: And are we invited?
Over 25: If you're nice to me, you might be, hehe.
