Me-Time: Solo Staycations in the “Zoned Areas” for Under Ksh 10,000

Traveling with family and friends can be incredibly rewarding but sometimes, you just need some time off all on your own. Some “Me-time”. Taking a solo trip will do you a lot of good. You will have plenty of time to yourself to reflect and just… breathe. Here are some hotels in the zoned areas (Nairobi, Kiambu, Machakos, Kajiado & Nakuru) you can check in for your solo staycation and they all cost under Ksh 10,000 per night.

Ibis Styles Hotel 

For Ksh 7541, enjoy a staycation at Ibis styles Nairobi that includes bed and breakfast, access to Kilele Nyama Restaurant and the fitness center, great views of Westlands and early check-in and late check-out.

Starling Bird Resort 

Located at Maanzoni Conservancy, Off Mombasa Road in Machakos, Starling Bird is a pet-friendly resort. A boutique-style hotel nestled in the Maanzoni conservancy. Visitors can enjoy bird watching and game drives. They offer buffet  breakfasts and dinners. Ksh 10,000 on half board that includes two meals and access to the pool and gym.

Lake Elementaita Serena Camp

Go glamping in Lake Elementaita Serena Camp in Nakuru.  Situated on the shoreline of Lake Elementeita, it’s a haven for bird watchers. They offer game tours around the lake on request. Ksh 8,500 per night on full board.

Maasai Eco Lodge

18 kms south of Kajiado town, Maasai Eco Lodge is within a 123 acre organic certified farm. There are 15 modern Manyattas with single beds. Activities include bird watching, nature walks, cow herding and aerobics swimming. Ksh 7,000 on full board. 


Brackenhurst in Limuru is surrounded by lush greenery and all the comforts of home. Bring your bike if you love cycling and sample their delectable menu on full board, all for Ksh 7,100.
