Facebook's family of Apps faced outages for the better part of Wednesday with users rushing to the only other social working platform, Twitter to find out what was happening. Users reported seeing an error on both Facebook and Instagram platforms with a seemingly struggling WhatsApp following suit.
The Facebook error stated, 'Facebook is down for required maintenance right now, but you should be able to get back on within a few minutes'. Most Instagram features including posts weren't loading, Instagram stories were down and direct messages weren't functioning either. Mobile chat App, WhatsApp had issues with sending messages, although in select areas worldwide.
Both Facebook and Instagram support teams took to Twitter to address the issue with Facebook denying a possible DDos attack by hackers. A distributed denial-of-service (DDos) works in such a way in which hackers make a website unavailable by crashing the website with too much traffic.
