Considered as the world's toughest rally, Kenya's premier motor sport competition Safari Rally is officially back on the World Rally Championship (WRC) calendar after taking a major step in its bid to return to the championships.
This year, to cap off Women's History month, rally enthusiasts will get a chance to witness the inaugural all-women safari rally -the first of its kind in the region.
According to Lisa Christoffersen, the founder of The Lioness Rally Club, a team that brings together  former and active rally drivers in Kenya, the women-only initiative is geared towards empowering and encouraging women to participate in motorsports.
Rally enthusiasts can expect to look out for the iconic driver Pauline Sheghu who was the first Kenyan woman to finish the Safari Rally in 2011 alongside other brilliant female drivers, navigators officials, scrutineers, fuellers and security who are expected to flag off the Equator Rally from the Kasarani Super Spectator Stage  on Sunday 27th March SEE MORE .
To keep up with preparations for the rally and to support the Lioness's  fundraising efforts taking place at Life Style Nairobi in Gigiri, check them out on Instagram HERE & HERE and follow THIS twitter handle . All proceeds from the Lioness Rally will go towards a noble environmental cause of planting trees as a way of reducing the carbon footprint.
