La Usurpadora (The Deceptions) is a mexican Telenovela from 1998 starring Fernando Colunga and Gabriela Spanic. La Usurpadora was among the first shows to induct Kenyan audiences into the world of Telenovelas and is therefore considered a classic.La Usurpadora follows the story of twins Paola Bracho and Paulina Martinez both played by Mexican actress Gabriela Spanic. Paola being a frivolous woman asks Paulina to take her place as the wife of Carlos Daniel as she goes on to enjoy her life. She later betrays Paulina and accuses her of usurping her identity.In 2019, Televisa is planning to do a remake of La Usurpadora under the direction of Carmen Armendariz.
