The third season of La Reina Del Sur (The Queen of the South) is currently in the works and Telemundo have already released a sneak preview into the new season.The series, which follows the violent and powerful  drug cartels in Mexico, was first released in 2011 staring Kate Del Castillo. The show follows the story of a woman named Teresa Mendoza from humble origins who rises up the ranks in the cartels to become a successful drug lord. She begins to run an intercontinental drug distribution operation through strategic partnerships and her keen business sense but things soon take a different turn when her daughter, Sofia becomes a target for her enemies.

For the third season, the series begins with Teresa ser ving her prison sentence. She hopes to meet her daughter, whom she has not seen for four years. This gives her the strength she needs to escape and return to Mexico. Once there, she must overcome numerous obstacles in order to protect Sofia from her old enemies as well as take on new dangerous challenges.Telemundo are yet to give the premier date but the series is set for release within the year.
