Are you aspiring to be a millionaire just like I am? Victor Wanyama has a few lessons for us about this millionaire thing. A Twitter user threw a jab at the successful footballer for failing to be ‘philanthropic enough’ with his millions. I know you’re thinking, what in the world?
Here is the tweet:
This hospital has been constructed by Didier Drogba right from the purchase of land. Our Own Victor Wanyama earns 28 million every month but has not constructed a single classroom in his backyard which will cost him a mere 700k. pic.twitter.com/xXtNtTZeuO

The tweep simply compared Wanyama to Didier Drogba’s philanthropic efforts. Kenyans, however, were quick to call out the tweep reminding him that Wanyama was not voted in by anyone and therefore he owes no one any schools or hospitals.
In the age of clout-seeking, it’s easy to see the intention the tweep had. Do you, however, feel like the likes of Wanyama owe Kenyans more?
Here are some of the reactions.
Has Victor Wanyama provided you with his financial statements and a breakdown of all his expenditure for you to poke holes into his character? Africa lags behind because of this beggar mentality. Present yourself for a brain checkup. https://t.co/N5xELyH06v

You guys leave Victor Wanyama alone and let’s focus on these relatives of his. Did the DNA results ever come out? Did the media do a follow up after all that hype? Are they real twins @citizentvkenya @KTNKenya @NTVnewsroom pic.twitter.com/36xlxZmfBS

All the people with money in Kenya it's Wanyama you want to out pressure on.

The provision of social amenities is the responsibility of government to whom you pay taxes. Don't ask private citizens like Victor Wanyama to do what your taxes should be doing.

Why is Wanyama trending?Has he been nominated for Ballon dOr?
— PoeticZen (@TZenPhilosopher) May 22, 2019
I saw Wanyama trending and almost thought something had happened to him. Kumbe it is because he has not, like Didier Drogba, built classrooms and hospitals with the taxes you pay him.

Ooh.. so Wanyama should build hospitals and schools while your deputy president builds churches and invests in heaven (with your taxes)? pic.twitter.com/sRUuadDtqO

Victor Wanyama's job is not to construct classrooms and hospitals for you or for Kenyans. You pay taxes for that. Ask your government to do this and take this bullshit very far away from Mr. Wanyama. https://t.co/Ir9HLz2HxL
