Thandiwe Muriu is a self-taught photographer born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya. She first picked up a camera at the early age of fourteen and over time was inspired to use her photography to tell the story of her Africa. Africa is a unique mix of vibrant cultures, colour and people.Through her work, Thandiwe is passionate about questioning her African world as she knows it, asking 'what if?' and 'why not?'. Hers is to challenge the narrow expectations of what African beauty looks like. In her work she celebrates her African heritage using the rich colours and vibrancy the continent is so well know for.She got a shout out from CNN on Instagram and will be featured soon in African Voices so watch out for that.
