Starring Bryan Kabugi (who plays Kevin), Ebby Weyime, Eddy Kimani and Irene Ayimba and Ruth Apondi, Dream Child is the story about a teenager boy, Kevin who discovers a horrid and disconcerting secret. This new information puts his life on hold as he grapples to come to terms with it.
He begins to question everything he has learnt about himself and those around him. Kevin has a lot to lose on this journey to self-discovery including family and friends and a promising future because of his good grades at school.
Dream Child was directed by Victor Gatonye and produced by Zamaradi Productions, the company behind popular TV shows like Jela 5 Star, Borderline, Sunrise, Keru, Kwa JP, L Msingi, Bypass Resort, Fihi, Trade Centre and Nyumba 10.
On his role as Kevin in Dreamchild, Brian who is no stranger to the TV screen – he has appeared in Machachari and Bloodline reflects, ‘ I was doing something totally different. Something I have never done before. I was more into comedy, but doing this role in Dreamchild was challenging, but I pulled it off… I expect that this film will touch many lives and families.”
Victor Gatonye is a seasoned director with several productions under his belt. His shows Fihi and Nyumba Kumi, were nominated for Best Show in Indigenous language – Swahili, Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) in 2015. He has also directed several TV shows including Makutano Junction and Changes.
Dreamchild premieres on 19th May 2019 in Kenyan Cinemas (exact venues TBA).
