Kenyan BTS Army Celebrate BTS MMA’s Performance by Trending “#NakupendaBTS”

South Korean Boyband BTS is taking the music industry by storm with their music and stellar perfomances. On November 30th, the 7-member group put on an world class performance at this year’s Melon Music Awards, cementing their position as the biggest boyband in the world.

The Melon Music Awards (MMA) is an annual awards show in South Korea that awards the most successful artists of the year on their online music store, Melon. BTS were the most anticipated acts of the evening and they lived up to the high expectations with a 40-minute performance to close the show. The group performed a collection of songs from their discography including Intro: Persona, Boy in luv, Boy with luv, Mikrokosmos and Dionysus.

While performing Mirkrokosmos  – a fan dedicated track from their recent Album, Map of the soul: Persona, the group shared a message of love for their fandom, “I love you” in various languages. Among them was “Nakupenda” and Kenyan Armys were overjoyed to see Swahili acknowledged by the group.

They took to twitter to express their excitement by trending #NakupendaBTS, which went up to 8th position in Kenyan real time trends. A group of Kenyan Armys who gathered at the Spice Roots in Nairobi to celebrate member’s upcoming birthdays – Jin and V, also shared a clip of their reaction.

BTS were the most awarded act of the night, winning a total of 8 awards. These included all four Daesangs (grand prizes) for Record of the year, Artist of the year, Album of the year and Song of the year, making them the first ever act in the history of MMAs to do so.
