KB: Thanks for coming through Icy Lando. First things first, how would you describe your sound?
Well, I would say my sound is generally versatile.
KB: And of course you have a new song out, Elevate. Tell us about that and the process involved in creating it?
Elevate is a motivational song in a hip hop way. You know, when you try to motivate yourself and other people, you need to be aggressive and upbeat about it. That's what I brought out in the song. The record was produced by Ngeezy whom I met online. He sent me a couple of beats whose vibe I loved and that's how the record came about.
KB: What are some of the themes and concepts you included on this record?
I worked with Deska Torres who basically came up with the concept. The vibe of the song is a sexy gangster type so he wanted to bring all that out despite the song being motivational.
KB: The video has since garnered quite a good traction on YouTube. What has the reception to "Elevate" been like on your end?
Positive vibes everywhere! People are loving it and I'm really happy about it.
KB: #PlayKEMusic has been on people's minds for quite some time now, what are your thoughts as a Kenyan artist?
We are not where we want to be but we are growing. We are coming up really well and major shout out to Khaligraph and other big names that are talking about playing Kenyan music. I think it's important for us to love ourselves first before we decide to support bigger names outside. We are the only ones who can make our music big so I think it's a really good move. Thanks to that we are getting a platform for the new ones coming up. We need to keep that vibe by pushing our own content.
KB: Well, we know you're a huge fan of Chris Brown. Any Kenyan dream collaborations you have in mind?
I'd say working with Khaligraph, TNT or Sauti Sol is the goal right now.
KB: In an interview back in April, you confirmed a collabo with a major surprise artist. Any details you can share thus far?
I don't want to give clues yet but it's a really major artist. This is a major project where people will be surprised how I even managed to pull through that one. One thing though, it's going to happen this year.
KB: What message do you have for your fans out there?
Keep on supporting my stuff and also other upcoming Kenyan acts coming up. Just to appreciate their love and support.
