Just Mercy is a legal drama film that concentrates on the true story of Walter McMillian, an African-American pulpwood worker from Monroeville, Alabama portrayed by Jamie Foxx. The Harvard graduate, world-renowned civil rights defense attorney, Bryan Stevenson (Michael B. Jordan), heads to Alabama to defend those wrongly condemned or those not afforded proper representation. His first cases is that of Walter McMillian (Jamie Foxx), who was wrongly convicted of murder and is sentenced to die by electrocution in 1987 for the murder of an 18-year-old girl, despite there not being any evidence proving his innocence. In the years that follow, Bryan Stevenson encounters racism and legal and political maneuverings as he tirelessly fights for the life of McMillian.
