Winnie-Madikizela Mandela was buried on Saturday in a grand ceremony in South Africa. There were prominent people in attendance and they talked about Winnie's impact in the fight for independence in the nation. However, things took a turn when Julius Malema, leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and former African National Congress Youth League (ANC-YL) President. His speech attacked those he viewed as 'hypocrites' who had hurt Mama Winnie (as he called her) in her lifetime but attended the funeral and were 'mourning' with the others.
It was a fiery speech that then trickled down to social media. Twitter was ablaze over the weekend with the #JuliusMalemaChallenge. People called out funny situations in their life that were as a result of disingenuous people who pretended to care but actually didn't. The memes did it for me. I wonder whether people keep these memes and wait for a challenge on social media.
If you happen to hear someone say, "Mama, give me a signal," just know you've been burned. Here are some of the hilarious tweets.
