Nyama Mama hands down offers one of the most exciting ways to spend your Wednesday evenings with their Jamhuri Jam Sessions. The gig which mixes good music and scrumptious food provides a fantastic stage for young, up-and-comingmusicians to display their talents. The restaurant was impressively packed for last night’s 8th edition of the event which featured the soulful Ciano Maimba.
Here’s are all the fab and drab moments from the event:
1.The food and drinks
You haven't lived until you taste Nyama Mama’s famous ugali fries that come with a mouthwatering dip (garlic sauce). Thepresentation itself gets you ready to dive in from the get go. The quesadilla whose cover is Kenyanized and substituted with chapati is superb- especially when mixed with guacamole and kachumbari.
The mashed cassava balls with Mama’s pili pili saucealso make for a good pick if you want a small meal. The cocktails were also innovatively presented in mini jars which the guests would use to pour into their glasses. The wines were also fab for a post dinner drink.
A young lad with pure talent. He has the voice of a superstar. He awed the crowd in attendance by presenting his brand-new single "I Earned It" as well as numerous covers by international artists. His voice is very captivating and his ability to effortlessly hit high notes is impressive. All we can say is that we simply can't wait to see what this kid has in store for us.
3. Surprise performance by Sauti Sol’s Savara and Kaleyke Mumo
There Sauti Sol artist performed "Still the One" in celebration of the two guests in attendance who were celebrating their birthdays. The crowd got amped by the performance and joined in the song. The energy all around the room was filled with positivity and loads of good vibes. And who knew Kalekye can belt out a tune? She did a cover of Bob Marley's "No Woman No Cry" alongside a guest and boy did they complement each other.
4. The Staff
There's only so much you can emphasize about the importance of good customer service. Nyama Mama surely knows all about this because their staff are welcoming, concerned abouttheir guests and most importantly very polite. Kudos to the management!
1. Absolutely Nothing
There is nothing about this Wednesday Jam Session that isn't purely fantastic! If you haven't been to one yet, what are you waiting for? Mark the calendar for this coming Wednesday and thank me later.
