Did you know that 8th May is
World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day? It's an annual celebration of the principles of the
International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Fun fact for the
kiddos: This date is the anniversary of the birth of
Henry Dunant, who was born on 8th May 1828. He was the founder of
International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the recipient of the first
Nobel Peace Prize. Pretty cool huh?
This year, the International
Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement aim to broaden the public's understanding of their work by using a simple call to action: what do you
#love about Red Cross and Red Crescent?
We've seen all the great work they've done over the years. Responding to kids in dire need all over the world! Wouldn't you want your kids to follow their values? Selflessness, generosity, kindness and empathy?
It all starts at home. And this year, to mark
100 years of the movement, you and the kids can be part of the official World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day video by sharing your image or video showing your love for the Movement. Staff and volunteers from more than 30 National Societies have already shared content so don't miss out!
