Sony is currently developing a Kirk Franklin biopic. And according to Essence, DeVon Franklin, Megan Good’s husband, is set to produce it.
Franklin will produce the biopic through his company Franklin Entertainment, while the Imagine Me singer will executive produce through his own label, Fo Yo Soul Entertainment. Writer and director of Emmanuel, a 2005 documentary about the Charleston mass shooting, Brian Ivie has been tapped to write the script.
The biopic, which doesn’t have a name yet, will follow Franklin’s rise to success and the struggles he faced along the way. Franklin has been very successful in his music career. He is the first artist to simultaneously top all five gospel Billboard charts following the release of his latest album, Long Live Love. In 2018, the singer opened up about losing his father after reconciling with him briefly.
The 14 time Grammy winning artist has often been called the King of Gospel Music since releasing his first album Kirk Franklin and The Family in 1993. The album was the first gospel album to go platinum.
