Good Earth Group Unveils Growth Plans for 2019
The Good Earth Group (TGEG), owner of the iconic Nyama Mama restaurant brand as well as fusion-Asian restaurant Pan Asian Yao unveils grand plans for growth in 2019 off the back of a highly successful 2018.
The Group will launch an innovative beverage concept called BLUE DOOR, offering a cocktail lounge, beer garden, nightclub and African Tapas eatery. In addition, off the back of their successful Asian concept, TGEG will also introduce MR YAO, a Chinese fine dining experience inspired by the cosmopolitan streets of Shanghai and the authentic flavours of China. The Group has already made a name for itself with their Kenyan brand Nyama Mama taking home high accolades at International Awards in 2018. The two new outlets will be located at Kenrail Towers, Westlands (Nairobi’s dining and entertainment hub) and will occupy a space of 14,000 square feet. Outlets are scheduled for opening in Quarter 2 2019.
In Quarter 4 of 2018 TGEG also introduced the GOOD EARTH DELI & BAKERY as well as GOOD EARTH CATERING. The DELI & BAKERY experience offers pocket-friendly, fresh menu items across the city. Through the online ordering system, city residents are able to place orders with ease and efficiency from groups of 20 or more for bakery items such as sandwiches, wraps, pastries, quiches and plenty more. It is currently available to order through UberEats and Jumia Food. This offering is directly targeted at professionals and corporates wanting an easy, seamless and value-for-money meal option. GOOD EARTH CATERING offers a highly bespoke and tailored outdoor catering experience for private events from weddings to corporate cocktails and conferences. Attention to detail, innovative presentation and world-class chefs bring to life menus to delight the Kenyan guest.
According to The Global Cities 2018 report, spend on eating out in Kenya will increase by 77% from US$848million to US$1.5billion over the next decade. Along with that, will come patrons who are more discerning and want value for money. They will be looking for innovation and authenticity all the whilst demanding that they get what they pay for.
TGEG is well placed to take on this challenge. The Group has a clear mission to be the leader in authentic and innovative hospitality offerings, true to the spirit of African traditions, interpreted with international flair. In line with this mission TGEG has invested heavily in building strong systems to achieve this goal. This includes a first-rate central kitchen with HACCP, health and food international safety accreditation; an exceptional culinary and bar team paired with unique interior design spaces that are vibrant, eclectic and offer elements of surprise. In line with Kenya’s 2030 Vision of sustainable ecosystems, all packaging utilized by The Group will be made of biodegradable material including bamboo cutlery.
Jay Shanghavi, Managing Director of the Good Earth Group noted, “As a Group, our mission is clear. We want to deliver hospitality concepts that are proudly Kenyan and yet can stand against any international offering on a global scale. When we introduced Nyama Mama back in 2016 our concept took something so familiar and comfortable to Kenyans yet we presented it in a fresh, modern context. We believe this has been the key to our success and we plan to continue to roll out this formula in the many innovative concepts that will be launched in 2019.”
Jay further highlighted “ Part of our commitment to Vision 2030 is to empower Kenyan youth, to give them a platform to express their creativity and develop their skills. Much of our team is a young team, one that is focused to bringing the very best experience to patrons.”
2018 was an important year for TGEG:

● Nyama Mama expanded to a second flagship outlet at Capital Centre Mombasa Road. This space includes Mama’s Kiosk, a space dedicated to Kenyan artists and artisans to showcase their works to a local and international audience.
