Kenya's music scene is home to a multitude of artistes who fuse Afro-beat, rhythm and blues, reggae, and dancehall.
The Dancehall genre of music which is a genre of Jamaican popular music that fuses elements of reggae and hip-hop is wildly popular amongst urban youth in the country.
Various clubs in the city have dedicated dancehall playlists and theme nights and almost all matatus in the city bop to this.
Drawing heavily on Jamaican pop tropes which themselves owe a debt to the continent, Kenyan  artists reclaim Reggae Dancehall as broadly African and hence legitimately their own.
One such artist who is on a mission to uniquely indigenize the art form in Kenya is Manariga.
