Releasing a movie as a first-time, full length filmmaker amid a pandemic isn’t an ideal scenario. Unless you’re Kenji Gathetcha, who deftly made the shift from the small screen to directing The Whistleblower, his new action thriller featuring an indie dream team including Joe Kinyua (Njoro Wa Uba), Lwanda Jawara (Sense 8)  & Cecilia Nyambura (Makutano Junction).

The Africa Digital Media Studios (ADMS) , will be launching  the first ever locally produced ”Action Movie” (replete with stunts & effects) tomorrow, 31st July 2020 – ”THE WHISTLE BLOWER !  This movie will be distributed by ”Vumi Central” an internally developed digital distribution streaming platform (like Netflix) by ADMS, whose focus mainly will be support of local content produced in Africa  and giving them prominence in the global arena / marketplace.

Here is a synopsis of the movie:

Marshall Owino, a family man and ex-soldier, is an analyst with a pharmaceutical corporation that deals with the manufacturing of ARV medication in Kenya. He finds incriminating information against this pharmaceutical company. Though life as he knew it would never be the same, he chooses to stay and fight.

He finds out that the actual cost of manufacture and the price that the Government bought the drug at was heavily marked up to fill the pockets of Government officials who owned huge stakes in the company.

When he publishes this information to the public, Marshall immediately knows that his life is in danger. The powers that be have sent an elite hit squad to hunt and kill Marshall. Marshall has laid bait and he waits for them. The hunters become the hunted.
