It may not be Iten (home of the best runners in Kenya) but Mombasa has a growing community of running enthusiasts and Mombasa Run seeks to bring together everyone interested in exploring the best running routes in the "White & Blue City".
Event organizers hope to encourage a fitness culture in the city and foster community relations.
With the country slowly opening up, Mombasa Run is a great initiative to get people outside and doing something healthy and fun.
Running routes include Mama Ngina Waterfront, Greenwood Drive, Nyali Beach, Pirates Beach and Downtown. Runners will join the runners' groups who will be running specific distances in these routes; you can  run alone or with a small group of friends.
It's about having fun so there are no official rankings. Mombasa Run is not a race or a competition. The goal of Mombasa Run is to celebrate the city and create engagement in the community.
There is also no fixed distance. Mombasa Run is a run meant for runners of all capabilities and caliber. You can run as long as you like. You can join the runners' groups who will be running specific distances in different places, run alone or with a small group of friends. Plus, there's no start or finish line.
You can track your Mombasa Run with any tracking app of your choosing. This can be through a fitness tracker or even your mobile phone. Just make sure you submit your tracked or estimated run with a vibrant image of your run view on the Mombasa Run website to be part of the official leaderboard.
You can publish your run on the social media site of your choosing and organizers recommend registrants to submit their run on the Mombasa Run website (www.Mombasa.Run/submit-your-run/) to be part of the official leaderboard. For social media, make sure you tag us with the hashtag #MombasaRun or our account @MombasaRun.
The cost of the run earns you a t-shirt and a medal, so get out there and enjoy!
Mark your calendars for November 20th and 21st. Register HERE.
