The Double Life of Estela Carillo replaced The Candidate on Citizen TV's 10 pm timeslot. The novela is a televisa production from early this year starring David Zepeda, Ariadne Diaz, Danilo Carrera and Africa Zavala.The novela is about a woman from Mexico named Laura who escapes from a prostitution ring and flees to America by closing the border illegally. She flees with a young girl called Paloma and an older Woman called Chayo and the three of them start a new life in America as illegal immigrants. In America, Laura takes up the identity of Estela Carillo to conceal the fact that she is an illegal so as to work and take care of Paloma and Chayo.This is until Estella saves the children at the foundation that she works at from a shooting incident and receives a lot of media attention. A convicted murderer called Ryan Cabrera takes notice of her as well and asks her to testify in his favor so that he can be released from prison.Ryan is in jail for the murder of the Estela's father; the real Estela Carillo and knows that the new Estela is using a false identity. He offers her a deal not to expose her if she testifies in his favor and with her testimony, Ryan is released. Thus begins their story as their lives become entwined.David Zepeda plays the serious and dashing Ryan while Ariadne Diaz plays Estella/Laura.
