Fena Gitu's newest 2019 single, 'Steam' is a mid-tempo dancehall fusion track imbued with her unique style of witty wordplay and memorable lyrics.
The accompanying video is a rich visual experience of Nairobi's culture shot and directed by Enos Olik and EOP Films. It captures the pulse of the city, from the ubiquitous boda bodas, to its eclectic fashion and vibrant nightlife. In it, Fena infuses her gender-bending style with Oliver Asike's (of 2ManySiblings) retro aesthetic to create a colourful fashion montage, set against the backdrop of a khanga mural.
Throughout the song, Fena combines common phrases from popular Kenyan cheerleading songs with an emphasis on, Steam Zipande, as a motivation to her listeners to never give up on their dreams.
Fena, The Fenamenol Woman, continues to secure her place in urban and pop culture by releasing hit after hit and Steam, which comes a few months after Sijaskia Vibaya, is no exception.

Fena is also vocal on fair treatment of Kenyan artists, and one time, called out the organisers of BBQ Live 2017 for mistreating Kenyan artists in favour of Nigerian singer, Wizkid, who was the main act.
