To hobnob with Nairobi's upper class, one must look the part, and the crowd at Zen Garden did not disappoint.  The venue hosted the 9th edition of Fashion High Tea on 16th February, an annual fashion event that celebrates Haute couture in Kenya.
Boasting high-end fashion designers, it offered a peak into Kenya's fledgling luxury goods market, from the unique designs of NIZA Coutures, the contemporary pieces from Kipato Unbranded's Jewellery Collection, to the lofty creations of Riedel Glassware among others.
The menu was a special selection of cheese and decadent pastry, wines and cocktails made from premium spirits. On the catwalk, Mochez Models showcased numerous designers, among them Rialto Fashions, Afrostreet Collection and Zeyfros by Lola.
Sublime floral installations decked the venue, providing colourful backdrops and photo opportunities for the guests. Speaking of guests, the list was a roll call of Nairobi's elite, from former presidential candidate Peter Kenneth, Former Miss World Kenya, Emma Too, singer Kagwe Mungai, fashion blogger Joy Kendi, luxury connoisseur Vinnie Ozwald as well influential taste-makers in food, music and fashion.
The award for best dressed couple went to Natalie Tewa and Rnaze Mukiibi, Natalie wore a stunning asymmetrical navy blue and yellow dress from Fiona Kay while Rnaze looked dapper in a fitting floral jacket and pants from Sao Sartorial.
Proceeds from Fashion High Tea go towards a charity of choice selected by former radio presenter, Caroline Mutoko. This year, The Nest, a centre established in 1997 for the rescue, rehabilitation and re-integration of children in conflict with the law and children of imprisoned mothers, was chosen as the beneficiary.
