Christmas is here! Almost everyone is out having a jolly good time. Every year at this time, Nairobi becomes a ghost town. Residents are out of town visiting family in the village or down at the Coast.  Because we still haven't figured out other vacay spots. Lol! Don't fret. I'll show you where else to kick it. But first, here's where you can entertain the kids on Christmas day if you're in Nairobi.

Santa's Grotto at Garden City Mall

Santa will be painting the town the red this weekend.  He'll be at the Garden city mall and you can take the kids to hobnob. They promise a jolly good time!

Radisson Blu

Radisson have a Christmas Brunch and performance by Gogo Simo lined up. They'll be offering a lavish Christmas brunch with bottomless sangria. Kids will get a chance to hang out with Santa and make their own gingerbread house.

Mövenpick Hotel

A merry "Swissmass" with MövenpickTurkey, Swiss deserts, the whole shebang!

Hilton Hotel

The Travelers restaurant at the Hilton will be hosting a Christmas extravaganza with a lunch buffet, live band, carving station and baking classes for kids. Kids under 5 get to eat Free!

A Jazzy Christmas at Hemingways 

The Jay Sax Trio will be at Hemingways entertaining guests. They have a grand Christmas lunch and kids get to eat at half price.

Want something simpler?

1. Go hiking at Karura Forest
This is a good outdoor activity for anyone who loves nature. Whether a couple, a family or a group of friends you can hike in the forest and take cool pictures.
2. A picnic at Uhuru Park
Located just at the heart of the city, this is an ideal place for couples and family. The park also offers fun activities for children like slides and boat rides.
3. Go karting
Christmas does not just have to be about eating and drinking all day. You can spruce up things by adding activities like  Karting that will keep everyone energized.
4. Visit the Nairobi National Museum
This can be both educative and fun. You learning about Kenya's history while taking a nature trail.
5. Go to the cinemas
This is another cool way of spending Christmas. Instead of just staying indoors you can treat yourself to a block buster movie.
6. Nature Walk at Nairobi National Park
Located just a few minutes away from the CBD, you can enjoy nature's beauty and wildlife at the Nairobi National Park.
7. Visit the Mamba Village
This is crocodile sanctuary that will sure give you a great indoor and outdoor experience. Other animals found on the farm include ostrich, giraffes and rabbits.
