This edition of the annual Zen Garden Fashion High Tea was definitely one for the books. You should probably be beating yourself up if you didn't attend. Quite frankly, the hype about the event is well-deserved! Despite the heavy rains, the fashionable gang of femme's and men still showed up and showed out, all ready to have a good time.
Here's a list of fab and drab moments from the event;
  1. Cointreau
The French orange liqueur brand had a number of cocktails to choose from, and most importantly, they kept the drinks flowing through the event. My personal favourite is the Ginger Fizz, it's the type of drink for those who like to enjoy their drinks with a sweet and sour twist.
  1. The Food
My, oh my! Their food station was the ultimate orgasmic section for all the foodies in the house. It was an entire tent full of professional chefs serving a buffet of mostly Chinese-themed food as well as other sumptuous deep fried goodies- talk about a calorie fest. The cheese-filled samosas, the deep-fried chicken, the California rolls as well as the sugar-filled desserts (particularly the cakes), were just but a few of the things that would leave your taste buds tingling.
The best part about this was the fact that they were served hot and there was no shortage of food throughout the event. Basically, you could go mingle, sip on some wine, dance and still go back for another round of food, yum! This has to be one of the only events that has been able to successfully cater to all Kenyans food-needs efficiently.
  1. The guest's fashion edge
The guests were evidently fully aware of the calibre of this event. The ladies pulled out their most unique fascinator hats and their perfectly tailored pieces; caped jumpsuits, pearly white gowns garnished with multi-coloured flowers, evening gowns with trains, you name it! The gents whipped out their statement tuxedos, all with differing colours and silky pocket squares.
  1. The Häagen-Dazs stand
They had an innovative stand where they not only gave their delicious ice cream but also had a ring light where the guests could get cool props- all which had even cooler texts like "I came for the ice cream"-  and get their boomerang images e-mailed to them.
  1. The fashion show
The models brought their A-game to the podium. They strutted the runway just like the Balmain models and entertained the guests with their killer dance moves- one being the famous gwara gwara dance move and fierce Naomi Campbell-like poses.
As for the designs, they were impeccable! They were appropriate for all occasions; the chill Saturday afternoon look, the elegant award event gown, a night out with your girls and exquisite date night look.
  1. The music
The DJ kept the party going until even after the event was wrapped up. He played a nice mix of music, urban, local, rock and throwbacks, all which the guests evidently loved- everyone was on the dance floor busting a move.
  1. The rain
This was inevitable given how abruptly the showers came. The ground was grass so you can only imagine how the ladies' heels dug them up. The cold was also another annoying factor, plus the grounds flooded! Thank goodness, they were able to pump the ground and remedy the situation.
  1. The duration
Such an epic event should be made into an all-nighter, owing to the fact that it's so much fun!
