Stuck in a nefarious poachers' lair? Trapped in a nightmarish workshop? No, these aren't plots for a horror movie but rooms in Escape Team, a virtual Escape Room.
Escape Rooms first began as real-life physical games in the early 2000s, though the concept of Escape Rooms were conceptualized as online games in Japan.
Today, it's estimated that there are close to 4300 physical escape rooms operating in theme parks worldwide. Escape rooms are particularly popular in the West and some Asian countries.
The pandemic changed how many people engage in recreational activities including  discouraging many people from going into a locked room from which they must escape. So ingenious duo Sarah and Fabian developed a "printable escape room" experience for instant play at home.
How to Play
Playing Escape Team is simple. All you need are a couple of things:
  • A printer! You must print out the missions.
(Those printouts will be cut, folded, written and drawn upon, colored - no way to do all that with an on-screen PDF.) Get the free DIY kit HERE
  • The free Escape Team app on your phone or tablet. Get it HERE
  • People! Escape Team is most fun in a group of 2-4 people.
  • Office material. Pens in multiple colors, scissors, tape.
Get a personalized escape room at your event or if you're just hanging out with friends. Enjoy!
