Two weeks ago, Tesla Founder and CEO Elon Musk tweeted a poll seeking his followers' views on Twitter's free speech principles.
Musk further urged his more than 80 million followers to "vote carefully" claiming "the consequences of the poll will be important".
His actions after the poll results were however not anticipated.
Elon Musk acquired a 9.2% stake in the social media giant, according to documents filed with the SEC. His stake now places him as the largest shareholder in the company. The SpaceX Founder now owns more than four times the 2.25% position of Twitter's Founder Jack Dorsey.
Musk's actions have also seen Twitter's stock skyrocket up 25% in pre-market trading to just under $50 per share.
Earth. You don't have to be crazy to live here, but it helps.
