I'm starting to suspect foul play; why is it that Nairobians are the only ones who 'strongly' felt the earth tremor? We from diaspora counties would also like to include 'earthquake' in our small talks but it is fine. An earth tremor was felt on Sunday at around 7:20 pm. And just like that, Twitter had a Sunday story.
The 4.8 magnitude earthquake lasted about 15 seconds and it is suspected it was caused by a quake in Indonesia. The world is truly a global village huh? There's also a possibility of a tsunami which might affect the coastal region according to USIU-Africa's Incubation and Innovation centre chairman Scott Bellows who said, "Leave low lying areas near the beach until given an all-clear after geologists pinpoint earthquake epicenter."
The first Kenyans to tweet about the tremor-tic experience were slightly dazed and wondered whether it had really happened or whether it was just their minds playing games. After the confirmation from others and different news sources, that's when the fun started. Ruto was blamed, a number of Kenyans immediately got their seismology degrees and Diamond Platnumz and Rayvanny's 'Tetema' song was blamed for this mess.
These tweets are so good, you'll forget your Monday blues.
