The annual exclusive event Dîner en Blanc, which has its roots in Paris, had its third Nairobi edition this past weekend. (Re-live last year's incredible Dîner en Blanc Nairobi here.) This time the all-white dinner's secret and chic location was the secluded Fadhili Gardens in Karen. And yes, true to the events global legacy, they left the venue reveal until the very last minute.
Needless to say, the entire evening was a glitzy and glamourous affair, with all the guests honouring the theme clad in all-white from head to toe. There were very many iconic outfits and memorable moments during the show. Here's a quick summary of everything we loved and didn't love so much about Dîner en Blanc Nairobi 2017:
  1. The glam setup

The bourgeoise event naturally called for a bourgeoise setup and décor, which the organisers absolutely succeeded in bringing out. There were beautiful centre pieces on some of the tables garnished with white roses, tonnes of lights filled the tent and the stage, oh my! Simply stunning. My expectations were definitely exceeded on this one.
  1. The guests

The guests were extremely sociable and got along pretty well. A meal is made all the more enjoyable when people are able to interact and have a good laugh. What's more, the ladies came out looking uber glam in their snow-white attires which ranged from skater dresses, pant suits, to bandage dresses. Some got creative and accessorized their outfits with derby hats. The gents also impressed in exquisite suits.
  1. The performances

There's nothing better than sipping on a glass of nice chilled wine as you listen to some good old Kenyan music. The live performances done were outstanding! Covers done included those from legends like Whitney Houston, as well as Kenyan stars such as Nameless. As if that wasn't impressive enough, there was a mix of music that played through the night that kept the guests appropriately entertained.
  1. The food and drinks

The guests had the option of bringing their own food or ordering from Ki.chen who were on catering duty, which was a much better idea because they provided some finger-licking good food! The menu featured a range of rice and mushroom chicken, delicious salads which were served as starters and of course delicious cake as dessert.
  1. Time

The event came to a close at around 11pm which to many seemed rather early, mostly because we were having a blast!
  1. The rain

The event was held at a garden and we all know what happens when there's a down pour… MUD! The field which was designated as the parking area got soggy and sludgy. Woe unto those who parked in the field, their white shoes were as good as done!
