To interview Nandy, Nadia Mukami and Khaligraph Jones, I have to visit the Coke Studio, twice.
The compound that houses Coke Studio comprises of low-rise buildings straggled as far as the eye could see. The lounge where the artist interviews take place is splashed in all black. Inside, the decor is mostly Coke merchandise and souvenirs in the form of signage that advertise a cold coke for only 5 cents.
When we finally got our 5 minutes with each of our Coke Studio 2019 stars, they made it worth the efforts.

Coke Studio's 2018 break out star and one to watch in the Kenyan music scene. Her hits include African Lover and Si Rahisi.
KenyaBuzz: What are your expectations from Coke Studio?
Nadia: I want to use this platform to grow my brand from the level that I am. I am here as a big break artist so I want to network and learn from the big stars that are here.
KenyaBuzz: And how did you get to be Coke Studio break out star?
Nadia: It's a series of hard work. My team and I have worked hard in 2018 to push our brand and releasing quality videos and I think it's worked well because they (Coke Studio) noticed.
KenyaBuzz: What is your dream collaboration from Coke Studio?
Nadia: It would be Nandy. We are both female artists who are working hard to be visible in the East African market.
KenyaBuzz: What is your creative process like?
Nadia: When I am making music, I first come up with a chorus, then I do a hook and it's later on I dig in and come up with a verse.

One of Tanzania's biggest female artists, Nandy has proven to her audiences that she is here to stay. From her hits Ninogeshe and Aibu, to her second round at Coke Studio, Nandy keeps proving to us that she didn't come to play.
KenyaBuzz: How is your second time at Coke Studio different from the first one?
Nandy: The first time I was new to everything and I was a young artist in the game so it was big learning experience for me. This time, I have idea of what to expect and I know exactly what I want to do at Coke Studio.
KenyaBuzz: How has Coke Studio helped your career?
Nandy: The collaboration I did with Betty G the last time helped to introduce my music to her fans and the interaction with the other artists at Coke Studio helped me learn a lot which I've applied to my music.
KenyaBuzz: How do you stay on top of your game in music?
Nandy: It's hard work and the favour of God upon me.

MORE BLESSINGS ,COKE STUDIO 2019. OG is OG #cokestudioafrica

A post shared by Khaligraph jones (@khaligraph_jones) on

I start down to interview the OG himself the following Friday. At first glance, his steely demeanour will intimidate you but once you begin to speak with him, the steely outer shell fades to reveal a man who is relatable and down to earth. Khaligraph Jones is the biggest rapper in Kenya, known for his hard hitting lyrics and versatility in terms of artists he collaborates with. He was named Best Rap Act in Africa at the AFRIMMA Awards 2018.
KenyaBuzz: What is the story behind your name?
Khaligraph: There is no story behind the name. I thought it was a cool name that suited me and my personality and I decided to go with it.
KenyaBuzz: What impact would you say platforms like Coke Studio have had on your journey?
Khaligraph: I'd say it gave me visibility. Coke Studio is big and their audience is all over Africa and it's always a good look on your career when you have a big brand like Coke behind you.
KenyaBuzz: What artists are you collaborating with this season?
Khaligraph: I have been paired up with one of the biggest and most influential artists in Africa, RudeBoy and it's exciting because we are different individuals with different personalities and different vibes so we'll make magic.
KenyaBuzz: What new projects should we expect from you this year?
Khaligraph: I have put out dope visuals for my album (Testimony 1990) and 2019 expect more dope visuals for the tracks on the album.
KenyaBuzz: Favourite Kenyan old school rapper?
Khaligraph:
Abass Kubaff, and I have reasons why I say that. I remember when I was starting out, someone gave me Abbas' contacts and I called him and told him that I was a rapper and I had a song and was interested in working with him. He got back to me and invited me to the studio. For someone on his level to agree to work with me then was great and I appreciated that. I get a lot of calls from artists and unfortunately I can't work with everybody so I understand his situation. But for him to agree to work with me back then is something I will forever respect.  That is why he remains to be my favourite old school rapper. Even now there's a lot of rappers who can't match him skill and his talent.
Catch Nadia, Nandy and Khaligraph on Coke Studio Africa 2019 which will air beginning February, 2019.
