What better way to spend a Tuesday evening after a long, tiresome day at work than unwinding to a range of some delicious, fruity wine and some German beer?
You and your colleagues can now enjoy this enticing treat at the all-new City Lodge hotel in Two Rivers mall every Tuesday from 5pm to 7pm. No need to worry about eating prior to going because they provide a wide array of sumptuous bitings which you can devour before sampling from the crisp selection of wines.
All invited guests gathered at the lounge which was elegantly setup with cocktail tables which were served freshly roasted cashew and macadamia nuts, as well as a selection of fruits on a skewer and some crisps. The guests helped themselves to the delicious servings of samosas, honey glazed chicken wings, veggie spring rolls and spicy meat balls available at the buffet.
Afterwards, they received a warm welcome from the assistant general manager, Mr. Alan Kimani. After addressing the crowd, the wine tasting was officially opened and friends/colleagues went in groups of 3-5 people to sample the wines as they engaged in small talk.
Jos-Hansen was the wine provider for the evening and provided a range of South African and German wines, as well as German beer. An interesting point to note is that wine is named after the grape, which it is extracted from. Also, each week they have a different supplier bringing a range of wines which the invited guests can indulge in and enjoy.
South African Wines;
1.Kleine Rust- A 2015 Chenin Blanc white wine from Stellenbosch estate in South Africa (13%)
Our take; Easy on the taste buds; mild taste
  1. Kleine Rust- A 2013 red Pinotage Shiraz wine, which is taken after dinner (11%)
Our take; Flavourful, with a strong finish
German Wines;
  1. Taste of Germany- A 2013 dry white made from the Riesling grape indigenous to the country (11%)
Our take; It has a perfect blend of flavours and made for our favourite; it is neither too dry nor too sweet.
  1. Bianco Nobille- A dessert wine with a hint of vanilla
Our take; A good pick for those with a sweet tooth.
  1. Lovely Marula (4.5%)- A wine perfect for the beginners
Our take; it's extremely sweet, tastes just like juice
  1. Rosso Noblle Chocolata- A red wine, which is best served chilled
Our take; It's an okay sweet wine that has a hint of chocolate taste in it
  1. Crema Nobil- A cream liquer, whose alcohol content is wine based (An important point to note is that most cream liqueurs are usually whisky or gin based, therefore making it a unique blend)
Our take; A very delicious wine, worth every penny!
