International Women's Day 2019 is here, and as we celebrate the great women in our lives, we can't help but gush over these leading ladies on TV who have given us the best of themselves, and who remind us again and again why we must create spaces for women to thrive.
Rebecca Pearson, This Is Us
Through the good and the bad times, Rebecca Pearson (Mandy Moore) held the Pearsons together and gave us some of the most emotional family moments in television history.
Sadly, sometimes, overshadowed by all the adoration given to the best dad that ever lived, Jack Pearson, Rebecca perhaps doesn't get the recognition she deserves from This Is Us fandom.

Arya Stark, Game of Thrones
Game of Thrones has taught us that Westeros is a dangerous place to dream. Driven by her famous Kill List, we've watched Arya Stark morph into a badass assassin to avenge her family.
Just this Tuesday, HBO released the official Game of Thrones trailer, and it appears that someone (or something) is chasing her. But just so we are clear, if they harm Arya in S8, or so much as touch a strand of hair from her head, we riot.
As you prepare for S8, Catch Game of Thrones S1-7 on Showmax.
Annalise Keating, How to Get Away with Murder
As a strong black woman on TV, Viola Davis' Annalise Keating is a symbol of representation and empowerment for women.
In a role that has earned her an Emmy Award for Oustanding Lead Actress, Davis is the shrewd professor who has mastered the art of getting away with murder  - discredit the witness, introduce a new suspect and burry the evidence.

June Osborne/Offred, The Handmaid's Tale
A show about women being held captive simply to use them for their wombs, what's more harrowing than that? The Handmaid's Tale will break you and inspire you at the same time as you meet June Osborne, a woman who's defiant to break free from the authoritarian and chauvinistic regime that enslaves its women.

Queen Elizabeth, The Crown
The television world has given us many royals, but none like Claire Foy's Queen Elizabeth who unexpectedly ascends to the throne at only age 25, and who has to constantly fight the blatant sexism around her. It's a role that earned Foy Emmy and Golden Globe awards, and briefly caused quite a storm when it was revealed that she was paid less than her male counterpart Matt Smith (Prince Philip).
