Film, connoisseurs, gather around! We've got some exciting news. In a bid to inspire creativity among amateur filmmakers and to widen the scope of filmmaking, Kenya Film Commission is bringing back the film competition dubbed 'My Kenya My Story'.
It's an annual film competition for short Kenyan films shot using mobile phones. The fourth  edition theme is: Social Economic Impact of Covid-19. The call for submissions was sent out this week and submissions will be accepted until 21st May  2021 and winners will be announced on 25th June 2021.
A five-member jury will be tasked to take part in reviewing the entries, shortlisting of the nominees and tallying of votes. The jury vote will constitute 70% while an online public voting exercise will constitute 30% of the total vote.
The best short film will receive Kshs 200,000 while the first and second runners up will receive Kshs 150,000 and Kshs 100,000 respectively.
This competition seeks to inspire creativity among filmmakers in the country and to widen the scope of film making using smartphones. This year's theme is angled on the current universal call to stay at home and maintain social distancing due to the ongoing pandemic.

All the best!
