Transport-on-demand company Bolt, previously Taxify, on Thursday announced that they will be diversifying into other towns in an effort to reach more markets.
They will now be operational in Thika, Kakamega, and Kisumu.
Speaking during the press conference, Olaoluwa Akinnusi,  Bolt Country Manager said, "After Nairobi and Mombasa cities, it was natural that Bolt would gradually expand across the country. We now intend to build new communities in Kisumu, Kakamega and Thika as we continue to gain the trust of the Kenyan people."
Bolt also recently relaunched in London 21 months after they were shut down due to a license violation investigation by transport authorities in the city. The new and improved Bolt will be hoping to woo away both drivers and passengers with competitive discounts based, it seems, mainly on undercutting dominant provider, Uber.
The company rebranded as Bolt earlier this year so as to continue its market penetration in Africa and Europe.
Speaking to CNBC, Akinnusi explained the reason for the change, "Taxify as the name was known before was [equated] with taxi business. And over the years we have expanded in the service offering that we were bringing to citizens of the different countries."
