Bedtime Stories with Michelle Obama, Dolly Parton and more

Since our regular routines were rudely interrupted by Covid-19, our usual sleep patterns have gone off-course. Especially for kids. The stress of living under lockdown is playing havoc on their sleep patterns and things could stay that way for a long time.

Don’t fret though. The stars have come to our rescue and they’re helping us put the kids to bed through virtual bedtime stories. Imagine a celebrity reading a bedtime story to your kid(s). Pretty cool huh?

This past Monday, former American first lady Michelle Obama read one of her beloved children’s books aloud. She live-streamed to hundreds of thousands of kids stuck at home. The virtual storytime was the first in a four-week series called “Mondays with Michelle Obama.”

Mrs. Obama has partnered with PBS Kids, Penguin Young Readers, and Random House Children’s Books. She will be sharing some of her fave kids’ books to provide an opportunity for kids to practice their reading.

In the coming weeks, she will read  “There’s a Dragon in Your Book,” “Miss Maple’s Seeds” and “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”. The readings will be streamed on the PBS Kids Facebook page and YouTube channel and Penguin Random House’s Facebook page every Monday at noon E.S.T.

Country songstress Dolly Parton has been reading bedtime stories to children in a new virtual series called “Goodnight with Dolly.” Each week, Parton will read a new book selected from the Imagination Library, her book gifting program which mails free books to children.

Also, Save the Children have partnered with various celebrities for their @savewithstories campaign.

A couple of Hollywood stars have been live-streaming their bedtime story reading as a part of the Save With Stories initiative. All the stories are live-streamed through Instagram Live but can be rewatched anytime after they have been posted so you don’t have to worry about time zones. You can access them at your convenience.
