Bea Alonzo’s Controversial Transfer to GMA
Filipina actress Bea Alonzo recently transferred from ABSCBN to rival network GMA, causing a huge controversy about betraying her former network. ABSCBN was Bea Alonzo’s home network for the past 20 years, a place where she built her career as one of the most successful Filipino actresses. She is memorable for her work in shows like The Long Wait, It Might Be You, More Than Love, Tomorrow Belongs to Me and A Love to Last.
During the past year, ABSCBN have faced a difficult problem caused by the denial of their broadcast franchise. The incident has caused artists from their management arm, Star Magic, to transfer to GMA network in search of new opportunities. As a high profile star, Bea Alonzo’s move caused a stir in Filipino showbiz. A director called her out for leaving without completing a project that Bea Alonzo was set to star with Richard Gutierrez and Rafael Rosell but was put on hold in 2019.

I would like to thank everyone who has been a part of my 20-year journey, my fans, my colleagues, and the people who gave me opportunities and who have helped hone my talent. To my ABS-CBN family, I will forever be grateful for everything.
And now, I am entering a new chapter. To my GMA family, I am humbled that you put your trust in me and I am beyond excited to be able to learn and grow in my new home.
