New Disney animation Coco made a whopping $153 million in worldwide cinema ticket sales during its opening Thanksgiving Day weekend. This proves my theory; human beings are incapable of resisting animation movies. This festive season, kid and teens at home can enjoy animated TV series to extend the fun. If your kids enjoyed Tinga Tinga Tales on Citizen TV, these will also make their day.
Trollhunters
This animated series is now in its second season. The show follows a 16-year old Jim Lake who got hold of a magical amulet. The amulet, it turns out, actually chose him. He is now the defender of trolls who live in an underworld. They face a threat from Gular who is an evil troll, whose sole desire is to destroy all that's good. This is a story of bravery and coming of age for young teens. It is also action-packed and can be enjoyed by the whole family. It's also ridiculously funny. Lena Headey, who plays Cersei Lannister on Game of Thrones, will be voicing a character in season two. This show is available on Netflix.
Young Justice
This Warner Bros. animation is now in its third season. It is an adaptation of the entire DC Universe heroes, focusing on teen superheroes. Yes, even young ones can still save the world. The teens are trying to prove themselves as members of the famous Justice League team. The reviews are also positive, with praise going mostly to its colourful animation. The show is available on DSTV's Cartoon Network.
The Deep
If your kids or younger siblings love swimming or the ocean, they'll definitely like this one. This animated series follows a family of underwater explorers who live aboard a high-tech submarine. This show can ignite an adventurous spirit in kids. The show is also informative on marine subjects and the characters are also well-rounded breaking stereotypes. P.S the mum in the family is a pilot. It is now in its second season.
DC Super Hero Girls
This one is for the really young kids. There's a school by the name Super Hero High. It's filled with teen superhero girls such as Wonder Woman, Bat Girl and Super Girl. They are accepted for their super powers and they're taught how to use them for good. The show is now in its third season. This is a different version of Power Puff Girls. Can we turn Tahidi High into a school for superheroes?
