Alan McKittrick of car no.5, a modified Land Rover buggy, is the winner of 2016’s Rhino Charge held yesterday. The results of the annual charity event were however released today and managed to raise an approximate amount of Kshs140M, up from last year’s 108M.

Team 42 and Team Bundufundi came in 2nd and 3rd place respectively. Each year, 65 competing teams participate in the Rhino Charge.

The Rhino Charge is an annual off road motorsport competition in which entrants are required to visit a number of points (guard posts) while travelling the shortest possible distance across difficult, trackless terrain, where speed is not a necessity.

The event is organised in order to raise funds to support the activities of the ‘Rhino Ark Charitable Trust’, an NGO which works towards a noble cause: the conservation and protections of Kenya’s mountain range ecosystems, the so-called “Water Towers”.
