It’s been happening almost three decades now, it’s about time you join the party. 26th November is not D day but it is definitely THE day. Come rain or shine, you should be in the line.
As soon as I heard about Le Dîner en Blanc I wanted to be part of it; see the pictures and videos from last year and you will be begging to get in; know the prizes of the best dressed pair and you’re going shopping today. This is one bandwagon I don’t need to be told to join, and neither will you.
The concept is simple; after registration and confirmation online, guests head off to a pick up location dressed in all white where they’re taken to a secret public location in the city to dine and wine with friends.
Leanne Peris and Samson Mbugua are the brains behind all of it. They applied for the Dîner en Blanc franchise around 3 years ago and to their surprise they actually got it. It didn’t come easy however as they had to go through 6 months of thorough vetting to officially get the license and join the franchise. Event organizer Jilna Collis and Logistics Manager Timothy Njiru join the team this year and we simply cannot wait to see what they bring to the table.
Le Dîner en Blanc originates from Paris nearly 3 decades ago with friendship, elegance and gallantry being of essence.
There are 4 key things to note:
1) You must dress in all white from head to toe.
2) You must bring your own food, stemware and white dinnerware or purchase from the e-store .
3) You won’t know the location of the event till minutes prior.
4) You can only bring wine and champagne to the event, no beer or hard liquor.
If the press event is anything to go by, I’m definitely expecting to have a blast as there will be dining/drinking, elegance and fun. This year’s prize for the best dressed pair is a 7 day cruise to anywhere in the world courtesy of Holiday Bazaar. Enough said, let me start budgeting for shopping and begin the countdown.
