I know what you're thinking, not another year of this same old resolution. Why not make it count this year and simply GET.IT.DONE?
We all know there's no better feeling than completing a workout; the endorphins running in your body increase your productivity levels and put you in a great mood. Here are a couple of tips you can consider when embarking on your journey to a healthy lifestyle.
Surround yourself with people who share the same goal: It's very important to be around people who have the same zeal to kick-start a healthy lifestyle. This form of positive energy will get you excited and will inevitably keep you persistent in your new-found goal. Additionally, there's an unexplainable form of motivation that pushes you forward when you see your workout partners putting in that extra effort.
Join a gym or yoga class: There are several gyms and yoga studios in Nairobi that you can join to achieve whichever fitness goal you desire for yourself; whether it's weight loss, toning up or getting ripped. This is the best and easiest option for first-timers. Gyms and fitness studios are well equipped and also have qualified trainers to offer guidance and advice that will drive you toward your goal.
Exercise from home: This is the less costly alternative to gyms, since you don't have to put up on membership fees. There are several workout routines readily available online or on personal trainer apps like Nike Training Club that cater to different intensity levels. All you'll need to invest in are workout mats, dumbbells and any other home equipment that will help you reach your fitness goal.
Keep the food in check: It's easy to polish off a huge meal or slip in some extra snacks because 'you deserve it' after all that hard exercise. But don't spoil yourself so much that the benefits of your workout are cancelled out. If possible, cut the junk food or at a minimum, stick to your old diet when adding exercise to your daily routine.
When it comes to exercising and living a healthy lifestyle, it's a mind over matter affair. Remember, what the mind believes, the body can achieve. It's also important to know that occasional slip ups do happen, and that's normal. You'll skip a workout and you'll sneak in a few cheat meals once in a while. Understand that you're only human and you can dust yourself off and try again.
