The unknown and tension-filled atmosphere of horror films rely so much on those first viewings when they can catch an audience by surprise. Some horror movies can be extremely scary the first time you see them only too lose a lot of that suspense when revisited. From creature features to haunted house capers, the horror genre has been giving audiences the willies since the dawn of film. Here are 5 haunting horror films you should revisit tonight.

The Hellraiser Franchise


Created by novelist and film director Clive Barker, from the novella The Hellbound Heart, Pinhead is a quiet yet articulate and intelligent fictional character who travels to Earth through a puzzle box called the Lament Configuration in order to harvest human souls. He is one of the leaders of the Cenobites, formerly humans who transformed into creatures, that come from another dimensional realm.



Leatherface is a main character in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre series of horror films and spin-offs. He wears masks made of human skin (hence his name) and engages in murder and cannibalism, alongside his insane family. This known antagonist was also featured in the gruesome Mortal Kombat video game series in order to showcase his signature kill technique in the game. The film shows how the butcher and his cannibalism ways goes throughout the series and brings chills to expectant viewers from just watching the trailer.



Charles Lee “Chucky” Ray is a fictional character and the main antagonist of the Child’s Play slasher film franchise. Chucky is portrayed as a notorious serial killer whose spirit inhabits a “Good Guys” doll and continuously tries to transfer his soul from the doll to a human body.

A Nightmare on Elm Street

A young girl realises that she has to stay awake at any cost to avoid the clawed killer who is butchering her friends one by one in their dreams.

Friday the 13th

A group of camp counselors are stalked and murdered by an unknown assailant while trying to reopen a summer camp where, years before, it was the site of a child’s drowning and a grisly double murder.
