Fancy brunches and expensive event ticket prices can add up when you're trying to get to know somebody new. We would all love to impress on a first date but if finances are tight, you can still go out on a memorable date and not spend too much. Here are 5 date ideas in Nairobi for 1000 bob or less.
Nairobi Gallery
If your date is into art and history, they'll appreciate the history-rich Murumbi collection at the Nairobi Gallery. Home to some of the finest African art on the continent, the Gallery is open daily from 9am till 7pm and the entry fee is only 150 bob per person.
Arboretum
Arboretum and the word picnic are synonymous in Nairobi. This beloved spot is easily accessible from the CBD and comes complete with picnic tables and nature walks. You and your date can also immerse yourself in some dendrology and ride bikes. At the entrance, there's a wealth of info on the trees in the park.  The charges for the park are Ksh 65.
Rock Climbing at Climb Bluesky
Always wanted to go climbing, but don't know where to start? It may seem a bit daunting if you do a risk analysis but hey, you've got to start somewhere.  Chances are, you've been to—or at the very least, heard about—an indoor climbing gym. In Nairobi, Climb Blue Sky in Parklands is arguably the most popular indoor climbing gym. You and your date can do something fun and challenging for Ksh 1000 per hour.
Play Games at Ballpoint Social Club
Unleash your inner child at BallPoint Social Club at Village Market Mall's New Wing on the third floor (Level 3). They combine comfort food, drinks and an array of gaming options all under one roof. Their games can run the gamut from board games to ping pong, pool, darts and pinball and you can play an array of games for less than 1000 bob.
Movie Night
Nothing beats the experience of watching your favourite flicks on the big screen late at night. It may be traditional and conventional but a movie night date is always a good idea and won't break the bank. Be sure to get your tickets from KenyaBuzz.
