This year, the movies are making a splash! In the case of the new ANGA Diamond Cinema in Parklands, it will be a literal splash - plus whiffs, wobbles and shakes - as Kenya's first 4D theatre debuts.The ultra-modern multiplex located at Diamond Plaza 2 will have three 3D screens, each with a seating capacity of up to 200, and one 4D screen which seats 80. While the 3D screens can hold more people, there's no doubt that the 4D theatre will be the main attraction for Nairobi movie-goers.4D adds environmental effects such as rain, wind, mist, lightning, and scents into the usual 3D movie to ensure a fully immersive experience. The theatre seats are also rigged to move simultaneously with the on-screen action.Kenya will join South Africa and Egypt as the only African countries to have a 4D theatre. And as if that were not enough to get you scrambling to ANGA Diamond, the cinema which is on the 11th floor is also Africa's highest cinema. It promises some breathtaking views of the city.The cinema is a great entertainment offering for Nairobi families at the shiny new Diamond Plaza 2 building which is also endowed with various social amenities including a revolving restaurant and amusement park.ANGA Diamond becomes the third cinema location for the expanding ANGA chain of cinemas which includes ANGA IMAX in the Nairobi CBD (which was Kenya's first IMAX theatre when it opened in 2012) and ANGA Sky at the Panari Hotel on Mombasa Road.The cinema is expected to open up in November, right in time for the start of the holiday blockbuster season which will include hotly anticipated movies like Thor: Ragnarok, Justice League and Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
