You've seen the footage of the devastation Hurricane Maria wreaked on Puerto Rico, and you may have read articles about disadvantaged young women in India, Pakistan or right at home in Kenya.

Regardless of what is inspiring you, you are determined to assist women around the world in any way that you can. From helping with education and healthcare to providing assistance for at-risk young ladies, you can make a difference. To see how you can assist women around the world with a variety of needs, check out the following ideas.

Research available ways to help

While you know there are millions of women in the world who need some type of assistance, you may not be sure how to find them. Educating Girls Matters is an online goldmine of resources and websites that are devoted to helping girls and women. Spend some time browsing through and reading about the many organizations, which includes Akili Dada, an organization located in Kenya that is dedicated to providing secondary education scholarships and leadership training to young women; Commit2Change, which helps educate young girls in orphanages in India; and Central Asia Institute, which promotes community-based education for girls in remote areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Have a secure way to donate

Once you choose which organization/s you want to help, you need to decide how to make a monetary donation. To be sure that you can quickly, easily and, most importantly, securely donate to a worthy group, consider investing in a smartphone that can help you safely make financial donations of any size. For example, if it has been some time since you have upgraded your smartphone, you may wish to consider the feature-packed LG G6. Thanks to the phone's innovative fingerprint scanner, you can easily make secure donations to organizations — along with social businesses and microloans to women who are hoping to start a business and get an education — with the tap of your finger.

Join an organization

Another outstanding way to help women around the world is to join an organization that is dedicated to doing just that. For example, UNWomen.org allows people to support gender equality and women's empowerment around the world in a variety of ways, some of which you can do right from your smartphone. You can raise awareness about their cause through the power of social media, and you can also take part in one of UN Women's professional networks or campaigns, along with making donations. Women in Kenya who are determined to assist other women throughout the world may wish to visit WomenForWomen.org. Since 1993, the group has helped more than 462,000 "marginalized" women in countries that are impacted by war and other conflicts; those who join the group may sign up to become a Women for Women International Ambassador, which is a year-long commitment. You may also reach out to people you know to ask for donations to the cause. As the site notes, a monthly gift of $35 will support a woman in the group's 12-month program to learn valuable skills.
