2018 is promising to be an exciting year for the sports scene .We have so much to look forward to and some have become so normal we rarely notice.
The Gold Coast Commonwealth games
The 22nd Gold coast run is back this year at Queensland, Australia .The games will take place from 4th-15th April 2018. Kenya being a commonwealth member is expected to compete in some of the games and hopefully show some dominance in our strongest suite, athletics. We rank 8th with a total of 220 medals, 80 of them being gold. The Glasgow Olympics of 2014 had some memorable moments with Julius Yego winning gold in the men's javelin throw and faith Chepngetich who was among our youngest athletes winning gold at the 1500metres women race. As Kenyans we are looking forward for a chance to put another print on the world Olympics map.
The Winter Olympics.
For obvious climatic reasons, the winter Olympics are not very common with us as previous Kenyan participations were limited and we only have had one common mentions. Philip Boit was the first Kenyan to represent us here and though did not win medals he wore our flag. We have more hope this year as Sabriner Wanjiku Samider will be the lone Kenyan representative at the 2018 Winter Olympics set for Pyeongchang, South Korea between February 9 and March 9. While it's a dream come true for her to represent us, it's a dream come true for us too to have a representative at such a snowy event.

The FIFA World Cup.
Well this needs no introduction, with 3.2 billion viewers in the 2014 World cup it is watched by half of the people in the world. So yes everyone will be watching the 2018 World Cup which will be taking place in Russia starting from the 14th of June and ending on the 15th of July. Though we have some great teams missing such as Italy and Chile and Buffon. We still have some great country squads to look out for and can't wait to see if Germany will defend their championship.
So there you have it, the complete sports calendar for this year. It is definitely a year of cheer and goals and fingers crossed our Kenyan sports men and women will do us proud.
