Sankara Nairobi hosts Sicilian wine and food week 05 Feb 2013

The press, KenyaBuzz included, was treated to a preview of what is on offer and it was truly delicious and unique. The menu pairing has been created by chief winemaker Alessio Planeta and Masterchef Angelo Pumilia from the award-winning Italian Planeta Wines.
About Planeta Wines
Established in 1995, Planeta is a Sicilian wine producer in Sicily. There are six Planeta wine-producing estates around Sicily producing native varieties of wine: Grecanico, Carricante, Moscato di Noto, Frappato, Nerello Mascalese and Nero d’Avola as well as classics- Chardonnay, Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet. It also produces extra virgin olive oil.
His dedication to Sicilian winemaking began in 1989 and continues even today as Chief Winemaker. Trained both in Italy and overseas he has become the Executive Chef at La Foresteria since October 2010. Before joining the Planeta team, he worked across Italy and several countries like Russia, Spain and Japan. Today Angelo presents, exclusively to La Foresteria’s guests, traditional Sicilian recipes. Every recipe is made with local ingredients and finely matched with the best Planeta wines.
