Crime update 27 Jan 2011
For the second week, KK Security reported that vehicle hijackings were the most noticeable crime in Nairobi.Unlike last week, where carjacks were concentrated in the Thika and Limuru Road areas, this week recorded a dispersion to include Kilimani, the Industrial Area and Kamiti. The indications that a single gang might be responsible for carjacks in Ruaka, Wangige, Lower Kabete and Kamiti areas persisted for the second week running.13 January, 2011. Carjackers attacked a motorist in Industrial Area as he drove to work. He was robbed of money and other property. 15 January, 2011. - Several carjacks were reported along the Wangige-Lower Kabete-Limuru roads with several motorists attacked and robbed. KK Security reports that the Kiambu Road- Ruiru bypass has recorded an increase in armed robberies and car-jackings in recent days. This crime tends to peak during the weekends.
