Hard Landscaping - 1In landscaping jargon there is soft landscaping, meaning the plants, and hard landscaping meaning the walls, pergolas, paving, steps, lighting and so on.

For those of us who love gardening and cannot keep our hands out of the soil, the last three months with cloudless skies and high temperatures have been very difficult. There is never much to do in the garden when there is no rain and very limited water to irrigate the plants, except for applying lots of mulch to conserve soil moisture and perhaps hand watering a few special plants to keep them alive.On Monday of this week, there was a very welcome shower of rain and, fingers crossed, there will be lots more to come.

We all know the beautiful flowering Christmas Cacti, so called because that is the time of year they flower in the northern hemisphere, but do we know where they are indigenous to and how to grow them?
